In light of this year’s unusual circumstances, the traditional political conventions will be much different.

Joe Biden will continue to stay in his basement, not attending the event in Wisconsin.

President Trump and the GOP have been changing their plans. The latest appears to be Trump accepting the nomination from the White House lawn.

Nancy Pelosi felt the need to comment:

When asked if she can actually “stop” Trump, Pelosi reiterated “he can’t do that” and condemned him by saying “You don’t have political events in the White House.” She also called it a “diversion” on Trump’s part for his failings on the coronavirus.

Then President Trump gave Pelosi the bad news:

Trump Wednesday dismissed legal questions surrounding potential plans to deliver his GOP nomination acceptance speech from the White House, emphasizing that the federal Hatch Act does not apply to the president.

“It is legal. There is no Hatch Act because it doesn’t pertain to the president,” Trump told reporters at a White House news conference.

It appears Trump and the Republican Party are taking safety concerns seriously.

Instead of hosting the convention in a crowded setting, he might give his acceptance speech from the White House.

Pelosi’s accusation involves Trump possibly breaking laws such as the Hatch Act, saying Presidents “don’t have political events in the White House.”

Really? Then Barack Obama has plenty to answer for to the Speaker.

But Trump replied that the Hatch Act doesn’t pertain to the president. As president, he can give a speech from the White House.

If that speech involves accepting the nomination, how is that a problem?

It appears that Trump is trying to save taxpayers millions in travel and security fees by not flying anywhere.

Pelosi is going after Trump over politics, but is exposing her own bias, it seems. It’s not as if she has any stake in a Republican convention, after all.

Should Trump give his acceptance speech on the South Lawn of the White House?

Key Takeaways:

  • President Trump might give his acceptance speech from the White House.
  • Pelosi attacked him, saying he can’t have a political event at the White House.
  • President Trump struck back, saying the laws don’t pertain to him.

CNN’s Don Lemon went on a bizarre rant Sunday night accusing President Donald Trump of possessing a severe aversion to his predecessor because Michelle Obama is apparently prettier and more accomplished than First Lady Melania Trump.
“What is it about President Obama that really gets under your skin?” Lemon asked rhetorically to kick off his creepy monologue filled with awkward silences.
Is it because he’s smarter than you? Better educated? Made it on his own? Didn’t need daddy’s help? Wife is more accomplished, better looking? I don’t know, what is it? What is it about him? That he’s a black man that’s accomplished, became president, that he punked you on the whole birth certificate thing. What is it about him? Just wondering.

Melania is the only first lady in almost 200 years to be born outside of the United States, and she is the only first lady whose first language was not English. When she began modeling in Europe in the 1980s, she learned to speak five different languages, making her the most linguistically gifted first lady in American history.
This isn’t the first time mainstream reporters who masquerade as objective journalists have dogged fashion-model-turned-First Lady Melania’s looks while offering gushing praise of Michelle Obama’s fashion choices.
In December, the Trump-resistance Washington Post offered a lukewarm compliment of the White House Christmas decorations only to dedicate an entire page to trashing the first lady’s wardrobe choices which happened to match last year’s theme.
“Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations are lovely, but that coat looks ridiculous,” Post fashion critic Robin Givhan titled her happy holiday piece. Givhan chastised Melania Trump’s outfit as “cold” and “dismissive” even though the scandalous white coat which has become the first lady’s signature look performed in perfect harmony with the decoration theme “Spirit of America” where white is the primary color.
A look back into Lemon’s past reporting shows a journalist who is just as serious:

The Muslim call to prayer will be broadcast over a loudspeaker five times a day throughout Ramadan in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis.
This will be the first time the call to prayer, usually broadcast from mosques in Muslim countries, will be sounded in Minnesota, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The arrangement was approved by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on April 21 in collaboration with Minnesota’s Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque.
“At a time when physical distancing requires we pray apart, it’s incumbent on leaders to create a sense of togetherness where we can,” Frey said in a news release.
“Adhan provides solidarity and comfort — both of which are essential during a time of crisis,” the Democrat said. “As our Muslim community prepares for Ramadan, we hope the broadcast will offer a measure of stability and reassure or entire city that we are all very much in this together.”
The loudspeaker that the prayer will be broadcast from will be located outside a mosque and will reach “thousands of residents.”
CAIR-Minnesota Executive Director Jaylani Hussein said the Muslim community will “welcome” the mayor’s efforts.
“This call to prayer will be especially meaningful to the many senior citizens in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood who have been isolated due to the pandemic,” Hussein said in the news release.
“It will help them feel more connected to their community and mosque in this sacred month.”
Imam Sharif Mohamed of Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque added, “In this time of fear and isolation, the Muslim communities of Minnesota benefit from a city that honors and loves all of its diversity.”
Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar thanked Frey for his “leadership and solidarity” in an April 22 tweet.
The Cedar-Riverside neighborhood has one of Minnesota’s largest populations of Muslim Americans, with many people coming from Somalia and Ethiopia, the Star Tribune reported.
Minneapolis is not the first U.S. city to broadcast Muslim prayers. Dearborn, Michigan, has done so for years, and the city of Paterson, New Jersey, just approved a request to broadcast prayers in March.
Minneapolis’ broadcast will be different because the prayers will be broadcast from the center of the metropolitan area.
“This is a unique opportunity. It’s a reminder to everyone that we are all in this [pandemic] together,” Hussein said.
“Just as we have historically allowed churches to call out for prayers using a bell, this a continuation of the same freedom that other faiths have had.”
The call to prayer will run through the evening of May 23, the end of Ramadan.

Former Secretary of State and two time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton (D) just got nasty and in that way exposed herself as un-American.
She scandalously accused President Trump of using “racist rhetoric” to talk about the China virus because Trump wants to “distract from his failures.”
“The president is turning to racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis,” Hillary said before adding, “Don’t fall for it. Don’t let your friends and family fall for it.”
This is a nasty cheap shot even for a Clinton and reminds us all that if Hillary was POTUS Wall Street and big corporations would make a fortune off this virus while we would get nothing.
Thankfully, we put Trump in charge and he is putting the American worker first for a change.
From The Hill:
Democrats and some members of the media have slammed Trump and other Republicans for using the descriptors “Chinese” or “Wuhan” when referring to the virus in public statements and social media posts, saying it can stigmatize Chinese Americans and can lead to a rise in attacks agains them.
The virus, which is thought to have originated in China’s Wuhan province, has infected more than 200,000 people worldwide and thousands in the U.S.
Trump on Wednesday again defended calling the coronavirus a “Chinese virus” during a White House press conference.
“It’s not racist at all,” Trump said. “It comes from China, that’s why. I want to be accurate.”
Trump also defended the use of the term “Chinese virus” on Tuesday, saying that “China was putting out information, which was false, that our military gave this to them.”
“That was false,” he said. “And rather than having an argument, I said I have to call it where it came from. It did come from China so I think it’s a very accurate term.”
The president is turning to racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis.

Don't fall for it. Don't let your friends and family fall for it.
