Hispanic Pastor Says Ocasio-Cortez Lied About Border Facility

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez toured a detention facility for migrants this week and made national headlines with her claims.
She said that the migrants were kept in deplorable conditions, that babies had dirty diapers and that the detainees had no water.
That was in addition to saying that the Border Patrol threatened her and sexually harassed her during the tour.
The Border Patrol denied those claims and said that it was she that was the one who harassed and threatened them.
Rev. Samuel Rodriguez said he was “full of indignation” when he read the reports and prepared to see the worst when he went to visit the facilities.
“I read the reports, saw the news clips. I just wanted to see what was actually happening in order to better enable our efforts to find a fair and a just solution to our broken immigration system,” he said to Fox News.
Rodriguez is not coming from a partisan perspective as he has advised President Trump, former President Obama and former President George W. Bush on matters of immigration.
“To my surprise, I saw something drastically different from the stories I’ve been hearing in our national discourse,” he said.
“Even as a veteran of immigration advocacy in the U.S., I was shocked at the misinformation of the crisis at the border,” he said.
“We found no soiled diapers, no deplorable conditions and no lack of basic necessities,” he said to Fox News.
He was so impressed by the facility and the conditions that he asked if the tour had been staged to look as good as they could.
“They unequivocally denied it — we were witnessing the identical conditions the attorneys saw when they toured the facility days earlier.”
He said he was encouraged by the dedication and commitment of the Border Patrol agents, “many of whom are Latino.”
“’Pastor Sam, what they’re saying about us is completely false. We care about these kids and have a passion for our calling,’” he said.
“What’s heart-wrenching is that we have both Republicans and Democrats alike in Congress, who can’t come together for the purpose of doing the right thing and finding a solution to our immigration crisis,” Rodriguez said/
“Please, President Trump, please White House, work with the Republicans and the Democrats [and] please, please, please, please, Nancy Pelosi, Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, please come together to solve this crisis, immediately.”
